Jaden Ivey watched Purdue do a lot of winning.
When the Marian basketball star made his official visit to Purdue in October, it was the same weekend the football team beat Ohio State 49-20. When Ivey returned to West Lafayette in February, he saw the basketball team beat Nebraska 81-62 in Mackey Arena.
Ivey then watched Purdue make a run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. Eventual national champion Virginia needed a buzzer beater at the end of regulation to force overtime and defeat the Boilermakers.
While Purdue, which also won a share of the Big Ten regular season title, made its tournament run, Ivey said he could see himself eventually playing for the Boilermakers. He took a big step toward making that a reality when he announced Wednesday a verbal commitment to Purdue.
