The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Friday that University of Notre Dame junior Jessica Harris has been named to the 2017 Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team. Selections must have at least a 3.30 GPA.

Following a school-record 4:11.67 in the 1,500m quarterfinals at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Harris (4:15.41) ultimately advanced to the finals and finished 10th with Second Team All-America honors.

A theology major, Harris finished eighth in the distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships (11:05.76). She also placed 13th in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Harris won two ACC Indoor Championships with a time of 11:02.32 in the DMR and a personal-best 4:33.80 in the mile. The Cockeysville, Md., native broke her own school record in the 800m at the Virginia Challenge with a time of 2:03.23 and placed third with a personal record of 4:16.56 in the 1,500m at the same meet.

At the Penn Relays, Harris and the women’s DMR squad set an Irish program record (10:58.22).
