Notre Dame has shown no fear in battling Ohio State for recruits in the Buckeye State.

In the case of 2017 cornerback Marcus Williamson, the Irish might already be too late.

Williamson, a 5-foot-10, 178-pound sophomore at Westerville (Ohio) South, gave his verbal commitment to head coach Urban Meyer earlier this month. The Buckeyes have already added six commitments in the 2016, four of which hail from Ohio.

Williamson, a four-star recruit, reported an offer from Notre Dame on Tuesday. 247Sports slates Williamson as the No. 5 cornerback and No. 88 overall in the 2017 class.
