Notre Dame women will host Ohio State in Big Ten/ACC Challenge
The Big Ten/ACC Challenge will reunite Notre Dame women's basketball head coach Muffet McGraw with a familiar face.
The Irish will host Ohio State on Dec. 2. The Buckeyes are led by former ND assistant coach Kevin McGuff.
McGuff, who worked on McGraw's staff for six seasons from 1996-97 through 2001-02, will enter the season in his third year as Ohio State's head coach.
“Kevin has done a terrific job building Ohio State into a national power," McGraw said in a release from Notre Dame. "They have a great young team led by the nation’s leading scorer last year, Kelsey Mitchell. Both teams like to put points on the board and play at a very fast pace, and that should make it an exciting game for our fans, who are the best in the country.”
Mitchell scored 24.9 points per game as a freshman last season. The Buckeyes finished third in the Big Ten and lost to North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Notre Dame won its last meeting against Ohio State on Nov. 9, 2012 in the Carrier Classic. The Irish are 2-1 against the Buckeyes all-time and hold a 2-0 record in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
