Most of the production has come as a running back for 2016 recruit Korey Charles. But his future, at least in Notre Dame's eyes, could be on defense.

Charles, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound rising senior at North Florida Christian in Tallahassee, Fla., reported a new offer Thursday after Irish running backs coach Autry Denson visited his school. Charles was told by his head coach, who spoke with Denson, that the Irish like him as a defensive back. Charles said he plans to talk with Denson later Thursday night.

As a junior, Charles rushed for 1,120 yards and 10 touchdowns, but recruiting services don't pin him as solely a running back prospect. Rivals rates Charles as a four-star recruit and the No. 18 athlete in the 2016 class. 247Sports slates him as a three-star prospect and the No. 21 athlete.

Charles claims more than 10 offers including Florida State, Florida, LSU and Clemson.
