Good standing with defensive end recruit Oluwole Betiku could be the best recruiting news of the week for Notre Dame.

Betiku, a four-star pass rusher from California, listed the Irish in his top six Friday night on Twitter. Notre Dame was joined by Florida, Texas A&M, Florida State, Penn State and UCLA.

Notre Dame's need for defensive ends in the 2016 class was stretched when 2015 signee Bo Wallace left the Irish for Arizona State earlier this month. Adding Betiku would be an impressive catch for the Irish.

The 6-foot-4, 246-pound Betiku recorded 59 tackles, 24 tackles for a loss and 11.5 sacks in his first-ever season of football at Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra.

"Notre Dame is a great school,” Betiku said after the Irish offered in December. “I like their gold helmets. I know they have a great alumni base. The school itself brings a lot to the table."

A native Nigerian, Betiku came to the U.S. after being discovered in a summer camp in Africa. Former NFL and Penn State linebacker LaVar Arrington became Betiku's legal guardian.

247Sports slates Betiku as the No. 2 strongside defensive end and No. 28 regardless of position in the 2016 class. Rivals ranks him eighth at the position and No. 123 overall.
