California athlete Lamar Jackson claims Notre Dame offer
IRISH STEW
Lamar Jackson's position is ambiguous.
His talent is not.
Jackson — a 6-foot-3, 207-pound athlete from Elk Grove, Calif. — rushed for 577 yards and nine touchdowns last season, but he projects more as a safety or outside linebacker on the collegiate level.
Where, in this case, is the dominant question — both in position and school. Jackson claimed a Notre Dame offer on Monday night, adding the Irish to an offer list featuring the likes of USC, UCLA, Michigan, Oregon, Washington and many more.
The Franklin High School standout, who landed at No. 81 in Rivals' most recent list of the top 100 prospects in the 2016 class, is ranked as a four-star prospect by both Rivals and 247Sports, as well as 247Sports' No. 5 safety nationally and No. 13 player in the state of California.
Check out a few of Jackson's highlights below.
Blessed and honored to say I received a scholarship offer from the University of Notre Dame #irishpic.twitter.com/c7UcA3HNB9
