Former Notre Dame defensive end Jhonny Williams will visit Michigan on Thursday.

Williams, who announced he was leaving Notre Dame on June 11, confirmed his visit plans with ND Insider via text message. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound rising sophomore has said he received a release from Notre Dame that would allow him to transfer to the school of his choice.

The Berrien Springs (Mich.) High School product said he's working on finalizing visit plans to other schools soon but would not name them.

Williams, a former three-star recruit, did not see the field in his freshman season at Notre Dame. Of his decision to transfer, Williams told ND Insider last week, "Great school, great place, just not the right fit."

If Williams transfers to another FBS program, he would be required to sit out the 2015 season.
