Shortly after the news broke on Wednesday night that Notre Dame cornerback Shaun Crawford was lost for the season with a torn ACL, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound freshman took to Instagram to comment on the unfortunate turn of events.

"Won't be suiting up in a Notre Dame uniform this year," Crawford wrote in the comments section of the Instagram post. "But focusing on coming back stronger next year. Don't blink. This season my boys are going to get after it! GO IRISH"

Prior to the injury, which was suffered during Wednesday's practice, Crawford was practicing with the first team at the nickel position. His void creates an opportunity for graduate student Matthias Farley, freshman Nick Coleman, sophomore Nick Watkins and junior Devin Butler to step into increased reps.

This marks the second season-ending injury on the Notre Dame defense in the last week, as senior nose tackle Jarron Jones was also lost for the year with a torn MCL.
