Four-star athlete Melquise Stovall sets Notre Dame visit
IRISH STEW
Melquise Stovall is coming to Notre Dame.
Maybe, for good.
Stovall — a 5-foot-8, 180-pound running back that the Irish could also potentially use as a slot receiver — announced via his Twitter account on Tuesday night that he will take an official visit to South Bend for Notre Dame's season opener against Texas on Sept. 5.
The 2016 prospect and former USC commit rushed for 1,603 yards and 20 touchdowns at Paraclete High School in Lancaster, Calif., last season. He's ranked as a four-star prospect, the No. 26 player in the state of California and the No. 140 overall prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals. Likewise, 247Sports lists Stovall as a four-star recruit, the No. 12 player in California and the No. 104 overall prospect nationally.
Notre Dame currently has 14 verbal commits in the 2016 class, including one running back and two wide receivers.
