In July, five-star defensive tackle recruit Rashan Gary told ND Insider he wanted to visit Notre Dame.

That hasn't changed, according to a report from

Gary's mother, Jennifer Coney, told that the nation's top defensive lineman in the 2016 recruiting class wants to visit Notre Dame and USC before naming his top five schools.

"Rashan wanted to have his top choices by now, however, he does not," Coney said in the report. "Rashan still wants to take some visits. He's down to like a top 7 so far, but now we're going to USC. So our plan is to go. Before he decides anything, he wants to go to USC and Notre Dame."

A date for a trip to South Bend has yet to be finalized. Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Ole Miss are among the schools in competition for a spot at the top of Gary's list.

247Sports slates Gary, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound senior, as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2016 class. Rivals ranks him as the top defensive tackle and No. 2 overall.

Gary, who recorded 51 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks last season, will play in the Under Armour All-America Game in January.
