Notre Dame lost a football game in South Carolina on Saturday night, but it could still win a recruiting battle in the Palmetto State.

Troy Pride Jr., a senior cornerback recruit from Greer, S.C., announced Sunday night plans to make an official visit to Notre Dame. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect has already given his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech.

On Friday night, Notre Dame defensive back coach Todd Lyght and running backs coach Autry Denson attended Pride's game. On Saturday, Pride attended the Clemson game.

247Sports slates Pride as a four-star recruit, the No. 23 cornerback in the country and the No. 3 prospect in South Carolina for the 2016 class. Rivals rates him as a three-star recruit and 11th in his state.

First official visit set to Notre Dame ✔️ Oct.17 vs. Southern Cal.
