Notre Dame’s streak of defensive end commitments didn’t continue on Sunday.

Carlo Kemp, a senior at Boulder (Colo.) Fairview, gave his verbal commitment to Michigan, his mother confirmed with ND Insider. Notre Dame and Colorado were the other finalists for the versatile defensive end.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect visited Notre Dame in October, but the Irish couldn’t pull him away from the Wolverines.

Notre Dame will continue to pursue defensive end Oluwole Betiku in an effort to add one more defensive end to a recruiting class that already includes Khalid Kareem, Julian Okwara, Jamir Jones and Adetokunbo Ogundeji.

Rivals rates Kemp as a four-star recruit and the No. 9 weakside defensive end in the 2016 class. 247Sports slates him as a three-star prospect and the No. 30 strongside defensive end.
