Top LB recruit Ben Davis puts Notre Dame in top five

The list of top-notch linebacker recruits considering Notre Dame has continued to grow.

Ben Davis, the top inside linebacker in the 2016 class, named the Irish in his top five on Monday. Davis tweeted the list, which included Georgia at No. 1, Alabama at No. 2, LSU at No. 3, Notre Dame at No. 4 and Auburn at No. 5.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect from Gordo, Ala., received a visit from Irish running backs coach Autry Denson last week. Davis has said he plans to make an official visit to Notre Dame, which would likely come in January.

Davis recorded 105 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions during his senior season. He also caught 33 passes for 510 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

Rivals rates Davis as a five-star recruit and No. 7 overall in the 2016 class. 247Sports slates him as a four-star prospect and No. 46 regardless of position.
