Justin Yoon had to be good, and he has been.

On Wednesday, Notre Dame's 5-foot-10, 185-pound kicker was named to The Sporting News' Freshman All-America team because of it.

Given the task of replacing senior Kyle Brindza and handling all of his team's placekicking duties in his first fall in South Bend, Yoon connected on 15 of 17 field goals and 46 of 48 extra points in 12 games. His most notable kick was a 52-yarder in a win over Navy on Oct. 10, which fell one yard shy of a Notre Dame record.

The Nashville, Tenn. native, who was considered by many the premier prep kicker in the country before signing with Notre Dame, will kick for the Irish in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State on Jan. 1.
