If the name is familiar, there's a reason why.

Stanford Samuels III — whose father, also named Stanford Samuels, played cornerback at Florida State and then in the Canadian Football League — reported a Notre Dame offer on Sunday.

Samuels III is also a cornerback, ranked as a four-star 2017 prospect by Rivals and 247Sports. He touts offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA and his father's alma mater, Florida State.

A standout at Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines, Fla., Samuels III is ranked as the No. 7 cornerback, the No. 15 player in Florida and the No. 63 overall prospect in the 2017 class by Rivals, as well as the No. 4 cornerback, the No. 7 player in Florida and the No. 37 overall recruit by 247Sports.

Notre Dame currently has six verbal commits from the state of Florida in its 2016 class and one more verbal commit from the Sunshine State in 2017.
