Notre Dame women's hoops selected for Preseason WNIT
The Notre Dame women’s basketball team is headed back to the Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
The Irish, projected by ESPN as the nation’s No. 1 team in 2016-17, will be in the Preseason WNIT field for the fifth time in the event’s 23-year history and for the first time in five seasons.
ND will play at least three games, and as many as four contests, in the 16-team tourney. Games will be played at campus sites of participating teams in mid-November. First-round pairings, as well as game locations, dates and times will be released in the coming weeks.
Conferences are limited to one team in the field. The other 15 teams in the Preseason NIT are Abilene Christian, Arkansas-Little Rock Central Michigan, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Elon, Fordham, Furman, Green Bay, Missouri, Nebraska, Nebraska-Omaha, North Texas, UT-Rio Grande Valley and Washington.
