His first two college football seasons have been cut short by knee injuries.

But Notre Dame strong safety Drue Tranquill is expecting big things in 2016, and apparently he isn’t the only one.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound junior was one of 42 players nationally named to the Lott Impact Award Watch List. In its 13th year, the award is given annually to the nation’s best defensive player with academics and community service also factored in.

Linebacker Manti Te’o in 2012 is Notre Dame’s lone winner.
