On the second play of his junior season, Markese Stepp scored a touchdown. He also strained a hamstring.
The Notre Dame running back commit injured his left leg on a 46-yard touchdown run in the season opener for Indianapolis Cathedral. Stepp said he’s expected to miss 3-6 weeks.
Stepp’s teammate and fellow Irish commit, Pete Werner, did not play in the 48-0 Cathedral win over East Noble. Werner, a senior linebacker, had not completed his return from offseason hip surgeries. Werner, who said he expects to play this week, underwent surgery to repair torn labrums in both of his hips in April.
