Four-star 2018 WR Kevin Austin includes Notre Dame in final four
Notre Dame already has two wide receiver commits in its 2018 class.
A third may be on its way.
Kevin Austin — a 6-foot-3, 198-pound wide receiver from Coconut Creek, Fla. — included the Irish in his final four on Sunday, alongside Tennessee, Miami and Duke. He added that a verbal commitment is "coming soon."
A consensus four-star recruit, Austin visited South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game on April 23. He later called the trip an "amazing experience" on Twitter. The North Broward High School standout has developed a close relationship with Irish running backs coach Autry Denson.
“He’s been down here in this area. He grew up not even a couple miles from where I grew up," Austin said of Denson prior to his Notre Dame visit. "I really have a great feel for him because if I choose to go to Notre Dame, he’s been through that situation. He picked Notre Dame and didn’t stay down here in South Florida.
"That’s someone I can look up to and any questions that I have, he can answer them.”
Wide receivers Braden Lenzy and Micah Jones are already committed in Notre Dame's 2018 class.
Austin is ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 24 wide receiver nationally and the No. 129 overall prospect in the 2018 class by Rivals, as well as a four-star prospect and the No. 52 wide receiver by 247Sports.
When asked what the deciding factor will be in his recruitment, Austin told ND Insider, “Just the best place that fits for me, of course, athletically and academically.”
