The watch lists just keep coming.
On Thursday, the Doak Walker Award — which honors college football's premier running back — released its annual watch list, and Notre Dame running back Josh Adams made the cut.
Adams — a 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior — has rushed for 1,768 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry in his first two seasons in South Bend. Despite a series of nagging injuries last season, the Warrington, Pa., native led the way with 933 rushing yards, 5.9 yards per carry and five scores in 2016.
Behind first-year starting quarterback Brandon Wimbush, Adams is expected to be a staple in the Irish backfield this fall, alongside fellow running backs Dexter Williams and Tony Jones Jr. Four starters on Notre Dame's offensive line are also expected to return, including standout left tackle Mike McGlinchey and left guard Quenton Nelson.
Notre Dame opens fall camp on Aug. 1 and kicks off the 2017 season by hosting Temple on Sept. 2.Ada
