#NDInsider Twitter Chatter: Notre Dame-Temple
IRISH STEW
Twitter can be a fun (or depressing) and brutally honest (or unreasonable) place during Notre Dame football games. That's why we open up this space for the #NDInsider Twitter Chatter after games.
During the game, readers are encouraged to send their thoughts and observations with the #NDInsider hashtag to be considered for our postgame fan recap. They joined us with their 140-character takes during the game.
We started things out with score predictions for Saturday's matchup of Notre Dame and Temple. I was feeling pretty proud of mine late in the fourth quarter, but I was still outdone.

Notre Dame didn't take long to get the game rolling. Josh Adams scored on a 37-yard touchdown only 33 seconds into the first quarter. Then Brandon Wimbush scored the second touchdown with the help of Quenton Nelson.
2 plays, 33 seconds, Irish up 7. Can you ask for anything better? #NDInsider#GoIRISH

he's so big and intimidating, the DL was just caught in his gravitational pull #planet#NotreDame#NDInsider

The Irish led 21-3 after the first quarter of the season opener. Wimbush threw his first touchdown pass of the season to tight end Nic Weishar, and the defense kept Temple out of the end zone.
Really impressed with Wimbush! #NDInsider

Front seven looks 200% better than last year. #NDInsider
— Kevin Cosgrove (@kcos194) September 2, 2017
This is a different team than last year, especially on defense #NDInsider
— Garrett (@itsGPog) September 2, 2017
#NDInsider Look good so far, some defensive break downs on a couple pass plays, but front 7 seem to be getting home on pass rush.

Notre Dame took a 28-10 lead into halftime. Fans were mostly pleased with the performance, but they also saw room for improvement, particularly on defense.
O looks good may need to find a #2 wr Defense looks improved from last year but need to improve more w/the Dogs in sight #NDInsider#GoIrish

It's refreshing not to have NBC panning to VanGorder's confused mug after the D gave up a big play ... #NDInsider
— Bill Beck (@Bill_BeckHOF) September 2, 2017
#NDInsider when wimbush gets some experience - look out. I did think D would be a bit better. I guess Rome wasn't built in a day.
— Jeff (@DubbDubbs) September 2, 2017
#NDInsider there tired D is gonna struggle with this fast scoring offense
— Jerry Purcell (@jer22pur) September 2, 2017
Really what the offense has shown and I'm pleasantly surprised and optimistic w/defensive side of the ball! Now Close It Out! #NDInsider ☘️

Defense still kinda soft. Not getting off blocks that well. But I'll take 18 pts up at halftime. #NDInsider

Notre Dame never lost control in the second half, though kicker Justin Yoon missed his second field goal attempt of the day. Running back Dexter Williams, who didn't receive a carry in the first half, turned six rushes into 124 yards and one touchdown.
"I heard Justin Yoon was out all spring with an injury. How does he look today so far?" #NDInsider#NDFBpic.twitter.com/NirJOCbzrQ

Best run performance by the Fighting Irish in a LONG TIME. #NDINsider#NDvsTemple#BeatTemple#NotreDame
— Joel DeLorge (@JoelDeLorge) September 2, 2017
Why doesn't Dexter Williams get to run the ball more? He is explosive! #NDInsider
— Justin (@JB4Irish) September 2, 2017
Notre Dame closed out a 49-16 victory with relative ease and pushed last season's 4-8 record only slightly farther into the past. Georgia will be here before you know it.
HEY GUYS!
IT'S ONLY WEEK ONE

— Irish Phog (@IrishPhog) September 2, 2017

Brandon Wimbush has a great haircut #NDInsider
— Sy Doan (@sy_v_doan) September 2, 2017
#NDInsider we need to be better at stopping the run. But the offense is legit. We won't have lower end teams beating us this year
— Ken P (@KenWPac) September 2, 2017
I love winning -not going to find any negatives in this win #NDInsider#GoIRISH
