Eight Notre Dame commits appear in updated 2018 Rivals 250
Irish Stew
Phil Jurkovec may be Notre Dame's most highly touted 2018 commit, but the consensus four-star quarterback isn't the only Irish pledge worth knowing.
In fact, eight Notre Dame verbal commits appeared in Rivals' updated list of the top 250 players in the 2018 class, which was released on Tuesday.
The Irish were led by Jurkovec — a 6-foot-5, 202-pound standout at Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland High School — who vaulted 25 spots into a No. 55 overall ranking (No. 5 dual-threat quarterback).
Jurkovec was followed by safety Derrik Allen (66), linebacker Jack Lamb (77), wide receiver Kevin Austin (81), linebacker Bo Bauer (142), rover Shayne Simon (159), wide receiver Micah Jones (179) and defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola (219).
Eight of Notre Dame's 18 verbal commits were represented in the Rivals 250. All are ranked by Rivals as four-star prospects.
The list also contained a number of highly touted Irish targets, perhaps the most notable being former Florida State defensive back commit Houston Griffith, who earned a No. 35 overall ranking.
Other notable 2018 Irish targets included were five-star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (3), offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere (67), linebacker and current Florida State commit Amari Gainer (72), safety Julius Irvin (87), linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu (94), wide receiver Chase Cota (114), defensive end Jayson Oweh (124) and Maryland cornerback commit Noah Boykin (193).
A pair of former Notre Dame commits were also included: Michigan State cornerback commit Kalon Gervin (113) and running back Markese Stepp (227).
Rivals currently ranks Notre Dame's 2018 class No. 9 nationally.
