Notre Dame will host Illinois in the 2018 edition of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Matchups for the 30th-annual men’s basketball challenge were announced Friday.

The Irish and Illini, who met in Champaign, Ill., in the 2015 challenge, will play Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Purcell Pavilion. Specific tip times and television network will be determined at a later date.

It will be Illinois’ first visit to Purcell Pavilion and first trip to South Bend since 1955 when Notre Dame played its home games in the old campus fieldhouse.

Notre Dame won the 2015 game against Illinois, 84-79.

Notre Dame lost last season’s challenge to Michigan State. That snapped a three-game challenge win streak for the Irish. In its sixth season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Notre Dame has played three teams in the challenge – Illinois, Iowa and Michigan State.

Notre Dame and Illinois have met 41 times. The Illini lead the all-time series 27-14.

Illinois and DePaul will be the “marquee” non-conference home games this season for Notre Dame, which also will play Oklahoma in Madison Square Garden on Dec. 4, Purdue in the annual Crossroads Classic at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and travel to UCLA on Saturday Dec. 8.

Notre Dame’s full schedule typically is finalized around the second week of September.
