#NDInsider Twitter Chatter: Notre Dame-Navy
IRISH STEW
Twitter can be a fun (or depressing) and brutally honest (or unreasonable) place during Notre Dame football games. That's why we open up this space for the #NDInsider Twitter Chatter following games.
During the game, readers are encouraged to send their thoughts and observations with the #NDInsider hashtag to be considered for our postgame fan recap. They joined us with their 280-character takes during the game.
Notre Dame put its undefeated record on the line against an always feisty Navy team. That made some Irish fans a little nervous.

All I see Is people dressing up for Halloween and going to parties on this Saturday afternoon/evening/night. Instead, I’ll be putting on my @NDFootball jersey and watching the team take on Navy in one of our oldest traditions. #LoveThee#NDInsider

We'll start with score predictions as always. I'm taking #NotreDame 45, Navy 14. What say you? Send it with the #NDInsider hashtag.

ND wins by a narrow margin. The usual Irish playing down to their opponent. #NDInsider

Notre Dame's first drive didn't last long. Wide receiver Miles Boykin fumbled on the first play of the game. The Irish defense bailed out the offense with a quick turnover on downs. Then Notre Dame scored its first touchdown.
But sophomore kicker Jonathan Doerer, filling in for an injured Justin Yoon, missed the first extra point.
Doerr....dohhh #NDInsider

Notre Dame led 13-0 after the first quarter thanks to touchdowns from running backs Jafar Armstrong and Dexter Williams. But most of the attention was on the injury status of linebacker Drue Tranquill, who had to be carted to the locker room after a Navy offensive linemen fell on his leg.
Biggest takeaway is what left on the golf cart #ndinsider

Glad we’re up, hard to be happy seeing Drue carted back to the locker room. Feels like a punch to the gut. Hope he’s not lost. #NDInsiderpic.twitter.com/9l5HfjIAaz

An archaic series that has over-stayed its welcome claims another victim, and possibly another season, despite the scoreboard. (Tranquil) #NDinsider

Notre Dame started to run away in the second quarter with two more rushing touchdowns from Dexter Williams.
I knew going to the Ed Sheeran concert instead of watching ND vs Navy was the right call. Irish dominance #NDInsider

The Irish led 27-0 at halftime which looked like too big of a lead for Navy to overcome.

This defense has me all smiles...I can remember how hard it's been the last few years to defend the triple option...the fellas tonight are making it look easy...I was set for a low possession slug fest but I'm more than impressed with the whole team #NDInsider#GOIRISH#NotreDame

#NDINSIDER #11 finishing every play. I loved the strip on the long Navy run.

Protestant Notre Dame fan here... Anybody want to help me out with some prayers for Drue Tranquil?! Is there a patron saint of high ankle sprains? Seriously though, prayers for the guy... Hope he is not seriously injured. #NDInsider

Navy's offense finally found some momentum early in the third quarter. The Midshipmen only needed four plays to score its first touchdown with the help of some poor tackling by Notre Dame.
Back-and-forth scoring resulted in a 37-14 score after three quarters.
If Troy Pride doesn't want to tackle anyone, please get him off the field. This entire drive is on him.
— Robert Nolan (@factor71_rjn) October 28, 2018
Troy Pride out here thinking this is two-hand touch? #NDInsider
— Nick Gonzalez (@nickg1421) October 28, 2018
Is Troy Pride Jr going to tackle anyone. Just pushed the runner on the long run and kida got out of the way in saving tackle of Coeny #NDInsider

Well, looks like the @NDFootball defense didn't come back out onto the field after halftime. Can someone go find them and let them know the game isn't over yet? #NDInsider

Navy was able to trim the deficit to two scores, but the Irish were able to keep the Midshipmen at a distance for a 44-22 victory.

Love to see Both alma maters. Glad to hear to Drue will eventually be okay. Need to clean up some tackling there in the 2nd. Ian still needs work on his deep throws. Onward to next week. Brick by brick, let’s go! #NDInsider GOD. COUNTRY. NOTRE DAME.

I took a selfish chance yesterday by going to the game in San Diego. @NDFootball was 0-2 vs @USNAFootball when I've been in attendance (at @NotreDame in '07 and JAX in '16). I'm sure glad they won yesterday to prove those losses weren't COMPLETELY my fault.#NDInsider
