Eleven Notre Dame commits on updated Rivals rankings

ND Insider

Until August, Rivals had Kyle Hamilton well outside of its top 250 2019 recruits.

The Notre Dame safety commit has since climbed into the top 100, coming in at No. 97 on the site’s updated rankings. Now a four-star, Hamilton ranks as the No. 18 safety. Because Isaiah Rutherford committed to the Irish in October, ND now has eight 2019 players in Rivals’ top 250.

Hamilton was the only verbal pledge to ascend from his mid-August ranking, which was No. 130. Offensive lineman John Olmstead and linebacker Osita Ekwonu dropped the most spots (43), descending to No. 111 and No. 228, respectively. Olmstead remained as the No. 12 offensive tackle, as did Ekwonu as the No. 9 inside linebacker.

NaNa Osafo-Mensah declined 26 spots to No. 200 but remained as the No. 8 weak-side defensive end. Isaiah Rutherford dropped 18 spots to No. 101 and is now the No. 9 cornerback. Quinn Carroll, ND’s top-ranked commit on Rivals, dropped 12 spots to No. 54 and descended to the No. 7 offensive tackle.

Safety Litchfield Ajavon and offensive lineman Zeke Correll moved the least among ND’s 2019 commits. Ajavon’s two-spot decrease was not enough to lose his status as Rivals’ No. 5 safety. Correll, the site’s No. 13 offensive guard and No. 95 overall player, did not move.

All three 2020 commits are in the top 250 as well. Quarterback Drew Pyne dropped 12 spots to No. 49 overall and declined to the No. 5 quarterback. Tight end Kevin Bauman elevated one spot to No. 103 overall and is the No. 2 at his position. The No. 5 tight end, Michael Mayer, fell two spots to No. 205 overall.
