DE NaNa Osafo-Mensah falls out of Rivals' top 250 rankings
NaNa Osafo-Mensah was Rivals' No. 200-ranked overall college football recruit in December.
The Notre Dame signee, though, did not make the site’s final updated top 250 rankings, which was released Wednesday. Osafo-Mensah was ranked as high as No. 174 overall before the previous updated rankings. He now stands as the No. 9 weak-side defensive end.
Seven Irish signees made the cut, with offensive lineman Quinn Carroll garnering the highest ranking. Carroll dropped 14 spots to No. 68 overall but remained as its No. 7 offensive tackle. Safety Kyle Hamilton was the only player to ascend, elevating 22 spots to No. 75 overall. He’s now the No. 7 safety. No Irish players achieved five-star status.
The list also included Litchfield Ajavon (No. 106, No. 9 S), Isaiah Rutherford (No. 110, No. 12 CB), Zeke Correll (No. 114, No. 6 OG), John Olmstead (No. 118, No. 16 OT) and Osita Ekwonu (No. 232, No. 11 ILB). Ajavon and Correll both descended 19 spots, falling out of the top 100.
Irish targets Asa Turner and Isaiah Foskey both missed the top 250. Eleven ND signees, including Osafo-Mensah, made ESPN’s top 300, which it released on Tuesday. ND's highest-rated player on ESPN's list, defensive tackle Jacob Lacey, did not make Rivals' top 250. ESPN's rankings can be found here.
All three of ND's 2020 commits appeared in Rivals' top 250 rankings. Michael Mayer, the site's No. 3 tight end, earned the largest boost. He elevated 92 spots to No. 113 overall. Drew Pyne declined seven spots, placing him at No. 56 overall. He's now the No. 5 pro-style quarterback. Kevin Bauman ascended one spot, making him the No. 102 overall player and No. 2 tight end.
247Sports intends to release its list sometime after the Jan. 19 Polynesian Bowl. Hamilton, the site’s No. 2 safety and No. 22 overall player, is in line to secure five-star status. Rivals’ top 250 rankings can be found here.
