Spring football practice starts Saturday at Notre Dame. One of the biggest story lines of the spring will be the development of the next starting linebackers for the Irish. Defensive coordinator Clark Lea will be tasked with finding replacements for productive stars Te’von Coney and Drue Tranquill.

For some insight on the position, Tyler James and Eric Hansen invited former Irish linebacker Rocky Boiman onto this week’s podcast. Boiman, who currently works as a color analyst on ESPN college football broadcasts and a cohost of “The Eddie & Rocky Show” on 700 WLW in Cincinnati, discussed the most important traits to identify in young linebackers, the difficulty of playing the position, his transition from safety to linebacker and the pro potential of Coney and Tranquill (:47).

Then Tyler and Eric weighed in on the upcoming NFL Combine in the "Place Your Bets" segment (22:41).

Later, Tyler and Eric answered questions from Twitter on Notre Dame's Pro Day, (26:17).
