247Sports released its first Top 247 rankings for the 2021 class on Tuesday. Both of Notre Dame's commits appeared on the list.

The four-star Tyler Buchner ranks as the site's No. 7 pro-style quarterback and No. 99 overall player. The 6-foot-2, 203-pounder was previously No. 2 at the position and No. 49 overall.

A more extensive evaluation of the class likely played a part in Buchner's decline. But perhaps it also had to do with his minimal film. A product of The Bishop's School in La Jolla, Calif., Buchner did not start for the Knights as a freshman. He also tore the ACL in his left knee in the 2018 season opener.

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy's Greg Crippen ranks as 247Sports' No. 17 strongside defensive end and No. 233 overall player. However, Crippen plays left guard and projects as an interior offensive lineman for the Irish. Not previously ranked, the 6-4, 280-pounder is now a four-star recruit.

Irish targets that have unofficially visited Notre Dame include DE Jack Sawyer (No. 2 — committed to Ohio State), OL Ben Christman (No. 22), OL Landon Tengwall (No. 28), OL Garrett Dellinger (No. 29), OL Nolan Rucci (No. 30), RB Donovan Edwards (No. 60), WR Beaux Collins (No. 81), CB Jakailin Johnson (No. 82), OL Blake Fisher (No. 87), WR Cristian Dixon (No. 109), WR Lorenzo Styles Jr. (No. 110), WR Jacquez Smith (No. 142) and DE Landyn Watson (No. 166).

ND's 2021 class ranks No. 4 nationally, per 247Sports. The updated rankings can be found here.

La Jolla (Calif.) The Bishop’s School’s Tyler Buchner, a 2021 quarterback, verbally committed to Notre Dame on March 8, 2019.
