Baltimore Ravens select WR Miles Boykin in third round of NFL Draft
Miles Boykin made a name for himself in 2018.
It started with a circus catch to beat LSU in the Citrus Bowl. That led into a senior season in which Boykin led Notre Dame in receptions (59), receiving yards (872 yards) and receiving touchdowns (8).
This calendar year has started well for Boykin too. On Friday, Boykin was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the NFL Draft as the 93rd overall pick.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound flashed his potential at the NFL Combine in March. He ran a 40-yard dash in 4.42 second and hit 43.5 inches in the vertical jump and 140 inches in the broad jump.
The 55-yard, game-winning catch against LSU to end his junior season became a turning point in a mostly uneventful career to that point. In three years at Notre Dame and two seasons on the field, Boykin caught only 18 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns.
The Tinley Park, Ill., product became the fifth Notre Dame wide receiver drafted since 2010 and the fourth wide receiver selected in the first three rounds in that time.
The third round ended Friday night with only two Notre Dame players already selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. Boykin joined defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, who was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the first round Thursday night. Cornerback Julian Love, projected by most draft analyst as a second or third round pick, didn't hear his name called yet with 11 cornerbacks picked drafted of him.
Boykin will join a pair of former Notre Dame players on Baltimore's roster: left tackle Ronnie Stanley and cornerback Bennett Jackson.
Boykin signed with Notre Dame as a four-star recruit in the 2015 class out of New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic. Rivals ranked Boykin as the No. 17 wide receiver in the class. 247Sports slated him as the No. 32 wide receiver.
Baltimore I can't wait to play for you and all the Ravens fans!!!
