[Comment From Chuck from Ft MyersChuck from Ft Myers: ]  Why was Biedschied suspended? For fighting? Are you not allowed to defend your self in the Big East when attacked?
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:05 Chuck from Ft Myers

12:07
[Comment From ralph, glencoe, ILralph, glencoe, IL: ]  Did you ever find out why Pointer (I refuse to type his first name in) was so upset with Biedschied? I know they were talking a little before the incident, but it didn't look that bad. What started the whole thing?
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:07 ralph, glencoe, IL

12:09
[Comment From Chuck, Ft MyersChuck, Ft Myers: ]  Additional question: Pointer blatantly slapped Cooley a while before the fight. Why wasn't he ejected for that attack(and it was an attack!)?
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:09 Chuck, Ft Myers

12:12
[Comment From ralph, glencoe, ILralph, glencoe, IL: ]  If everything goes as it seems with the Big East split this year, will ND have to pay a penalty to leave for the ACC next year? Would it have to pay to stay with the Catholic 7 for one year before going to the ACC the following year (I don't know if this is even still plausible at this point - I know there was some speculation)? I guess will ND have to pay to play anywhere other than the unnamed conference formerly known as the Big East?
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:12 ralph, glencoe, IL

12:15
[Comment From MattMatt: ]  If Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh all win on Saturday and end up in a three way tie, how will seeding in the Conference Tournament be decided?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:15 Matt

12:17
[Comment From JefferyJeffery: ]  Tom, what have you seen from Austin Torres this season and what kind of player could he be in college?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:17 Jeffery

12:20
[Comment From Matt, Ft WayneMatt, Ft Wayne: ]  Do you think Eric Katenda could crack the rotation next season
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:20 Matt, Ft Wayne

12:24
[Comment From JoeJoe: ]  Will Brey go with the 3 out 2 in look again next year (like with say Auguste and Knight inside) or a 4 out 1 in with maybe Biedscheid or Connaughton at the 4?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:24 Joe

12:27
[Comment From Dwight from Allentown, PADwight from Allentown, PA: ]  Thanks for the chats. Coach Digger Phelps mentioned how much stronger the team looked in the second half of games now that Coach Brey has expanded to an 8 man rotation. Do you expect to see this continue into next year? Any chance we'll see 8 against Louisville?
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:27 Dwight from Allentown, PA

12:30
[Comment From Joe, DCJoe, DC: ]  Tom. Funny but I hear Jerian Grant's teammate at Dematha Victor Oladipo was described much like you describe Torres. Maybe he will have a work ethic like Oladipo.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:30 Joe, DC

12:31
[Comment From Tom in JerseyTom in Jersey: ]  I know there is still one regular season game left and the Big East tournament to go, but since you seen this team all year what do you think there ceiling is in the NCAA tournament? by the way you have a great first name. (Toms must stick together)
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:31 Tom in Jersey

12:32
[Comment From ralph, glencoe, ILralph, glencoe, IL: ]  One could be excited about holding Pittsburgh to 42 points, Cincinnati to 41 and St. John's to 40 points each. In your mind, how much of it was really ND playing good defense and how much was those teams were just horrible at shooting the ball? I saw a lot of horrible shooting.
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:32 ralph, glencoe, IL

12:35
[Comment From DanDan: ]  In past years I'd hear analysts, talking of ND's prospects in the NCAA, would comment that the Irish had matchup problems, even with the likes of Winthrop. I'd say that's just code for "they're not good enough". Do you think the make-up this year, bigs, quick guards, and depth could change the equation?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:35 Dan

12:37
[Comment From sid catlettsid catlett: ]  this might be the frustrating and interesting team Brey has had at ND. Sometimes I have to walk away and then they play like they did in the second half and I have to watch. I know this sounds simplistic but when they are clicking what happens? It just seems to come out of nowhere?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:37 sid catlett

12:39
[Comment From Brian in IndianapolisBrian in Indianapolis: ]  Do you have any insight as to why Demetrius Jackson did not lead his high school team to more success in his senior season? He is a spectacular athlete and the only three-time MVP of his conference, but why didn't that equate to a better record and a deeper run in the state tournament? Thanks.
Thursday March 7, 2013 12:39 Brian in Indianapolis

12:45
[Comment From sid catlettsid catlett: ]  Was there ever a chance that Joey brooks would dress after Martin went down. seems like we are short on bodies. does he practice?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:45 sid catlett

12:46
[Comment From sid catlettsid catlett: ]  auguste is raw with a capital R. but I have not seen too many big mens around the country with his athletic ability. How do they work on his total game to gt him to the elite stasis? I know they use to send a lot of guy to big man camp. I think he will be great.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 12:46 sid catlett

1:03
[Comment From ralph, glencoe, ILralph, glencoe, IL: ]  What are your thoughts on the Marquette game? I thought Marquette played above their level in the first half and probably more normal in the second. I thought ND outplayed them in the second half. All in all, not a bad effort in my mind.
Thursday March 7, 2013 1:03 ralph, glencoe, IL

1:09
[Comment From goose Novakgoose Novak: ]  as always against Louisville I give the Irish no chance. which is why they will probably make a game of it.

[Comment From Jackie MehanJackie Mehan: ]  Tom I love the ND ICON videos. does Brey or his assistant coach's scene these to decide what get published? I figure there are quite a lot that dont see the light of day.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 1:18 Jackie Mehan

[Comment From Jim--NYCJim--NYC: ]  Tom-- Don't be surprised if Jim Boeheim's retirement is near. Lots of rumbling with the conference change and some possible NCAA issues as well

[Comment From David South BendDavid South Bend: ]  Based on what you've seen this season, name one team that may surprise and one team that may disappoint at the BET.
Thursday March 7, 2013 1:41 David South Bend

1:42
[Comment From Ed,GreensboroEd,Greensboro: ]  Tom, my offer of BBQ dinner is still open next time you are in Greensboro.Since we are talking A.C.C.,this has to be a help to Brey in recruiting -right? Thanks.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 1:42 Ed,Greensboro

1:45
[Comment From Knightwatcher South BendKnightwatcher South Bend: ]  Tom..Sorry I'm late. To expand on Demetrius' season, Marian never learned to play as a team and had terrible interior defense. They could have/should have won the sectional but went 6 or seven possesions in the 4th without scoring, plus missed 8 free throws and lost by 2. D also had bad cramping the entire second half. He will be all that is advertised and more next year. Watch his defense, very, very, very quick!
Thursday March 7, 2013 1:45 Knightwatcher South Bend

1:46
[Comment From Illinois FoolIllinois Fool: ]  Hey Tom, Which team do you think ND needs to avoid as long possible in the BE Tourney? I lean toward GTown as we don't seem to match up well against them. On the other hand I wouldn't mind facing Syracuse early as they seem to be slipping.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 1:46 Illinois Fool

1:49
[Comment From Dave in ScrantonDave in Scranton: ]  I'm really upset over Cam being suspended! It's very unfair. Instead of being gutless and saying " once it's deemed a fight it's an automatic suspension", they should look at every case on a case by case basis and use some common sense. If someone is defending himself he should not be suspended. What's to stop teams from sending their 11th and 12th men out to start fights with the other teams 2 best players under this lame interpretation of the rule. The rule needs to be looked at and changed.
Thursday March 7, 2013 1:49 Dave in Scranton

[Comment From Illinois FoolIllinois Fool: ]  Good point on DePaul still I think we'll be ready for them this time (fingers-crossed)

[Comment From Dave PDave P: ]  Okay, now that I'm done ranting, back to hoops. I know they can win Saturday, but lets assume a loss, a win in the 6/11 game but a loss in the 6/3 game. Can we keep our 6 seed, or do we move to 7-8? Or, still assuming a loss Saturday, but we beat whoever 3 is ( Louisville or Marquette? Hopefully Marquette cause I think we beat them if we get them again) I think we at least keep a 6 and if we get to Saturday maybe a 5? Thoughts?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 1:55 Dave P

1:58
[Comment From SaintKnuteSaintKnute: ]  I realize it is all about matchups in the NCAA tourney, but who would be in your Final Four based solely on performance to date.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 1:58 SaintKnute

2:01
[Comment From Dave PDave P: ]  You're probably right, and that's partly because of the weak out of conference SOS. I love Brey and all he has done, but I think he needs to change the out of conference scheduling. Schedule Home games with teams that are more likely to be in the 150-200 range of the RPI and not teams in the bottom 30. I will say that a win Saturday changes the equation as far as seeding, but winning Saturday will be a tall task.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:01 Dave P

2:03
[Comment From Knightwatcher South BendKnightwatcher South Bend: ]  Any chance ND looks to run more in the post season? Their offense is way more fluid and effective when they speed it up IMO. When they get bogged down in 1/2 court, Grant seems to struggle with his decision making and Connington's shot goes cold. They seem like players that need the uptempo to keep them loose. Your opinion?
Thursday March 7, 2013 2:03 Knightwatcher South Bend

2:04
[Comment From TJ, NYTJ, NY: ]  If the Irish lose Sat., and the other BE teams win, what place will the Irish be in and wheny they play next week?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:04 TJ, NY

2:07
[Comment From SaintKnuteSaintKnute: ]  Mea Culpa, had a meeting that just ended and of course rushed over to the chat. I cannot remember the last time I saw fist's fly at ND. I seem to remember some heated moments against Georgetown when Iverson was there (mid 90's?) but other than that nothing. Perhaps your memory is a bit better than mine?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:07 SaintKnute

2:13
[Comment From TJ, NYTJ, NY: ]  If ND wins and Pitt and Cuse win, ND still a 6 seed? Can the Irish go any lower than a 6?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:13 TJ, NY

2:17
[Comment From TJ, NYTJ, NY: ]  How badly do you think Louisville will want the W this Saturday?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:17 TJ, NY

2:21
[Comment From SaintKnuteSaintKnute: ]  I just have a gut feeling that something good is going to happen at the garden this year (isn't it about time, LOL). The Big East has been very competitive all year and I think it will show in the results of the tournament. It would not be earth shattering if none of the top four seeds made it to the championship game. Your thoughts?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:21 SaintKnute

2:26
[Comment From SaintKnuteSaintKnute: ]  The media hype for the Big East Tourney will be through the roof, with this being the swan song for the league as we have come to know and love it. Other than Louisville, who do you see as the media darling next week?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:26 SaintKnute

2:27
[Comment From TJ, NYTJ, NY: ]  Actually, if the Irish somehow wind up in the CYO League, isn;t it possible it will still be called The Big East? Comment -- Notre Dame needs to offer free tix to students like most colleges do as part of the activity fee. I mean Notre Dame tuition is high enough for God's sake.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:27 TJ, NY

2:37
[Comment From Illinois FoolIllinois Fool: ]  Which BE team should go the furthest in the NCAA's? Matchups will of course matter but who's potential do you like the most?
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:37 Illinois Fool

2:38
[Comment From Illinois FoolIllinois Fool: ]  I know it's not your beat but did you catch the ND-UConn women's game? I'd love to see the men play with that much emotion and the crowd respond. Maybe with our own local talent we'll see that.
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:38 Illinois Fool

2:40
[Comment From Dave Fairport, NYDave Fairport, NY: ]  Who do you consider to be the biggest disappointment this year my choice is Sherman
Thursday March 7, 2013 2:40 Dave Fairport, NY

2:41
[Comment From SaintKnuteSaintKnute: ]  With Skylar Diggins having played her final game at the Purcell Pavillon, do you feel that DJ will become the darling of the locals? Perhaps even motiviate them to come to a game or two. I have given up on the students, other than the few hundred (I might we overly optimistics on that count) who are involved in the Leprechaun Legion
  Thursday March 7, 2013 2:41 SaintKnute

2:44
[Comment From SaintKnuteSaintKnute: ]  Succinct at it's best
