Two people seriously injured in St. Joseph County crash

MADISON TOWNSHIP — Two people were in serious condition Monday night after crashing into a large combine-tractor near Elm and New roads.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team was called to the scene at about 8:30 p.m.

The vehicle hit the front wheels of the tractor, knocking the wheels off, according to authorities.

One victim in the passenger vehicle was not breathing and had to be revived at the scene before being taken away in an ambulance. The driver had to be cut out of the vehicle and was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Both were listed in serious condition Monday night, according to authorities.

The driver of the tractor was not injured.
