Four Notre Dame football recruits headed to The Opening
Four Notre Dame commitments will join the migration of the nation’s top football prospects to Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., this week.
Nike’s The Opening, an invite-only camp for high school juniors and seniors, begins in earnest Tuesday. Offensive linemen Jerry Tillery and Tristen Hoge, wide receiver C.J. Sanders and cornerback Shaun Crawford will compete in the camp that includes athletic testing, position drills, seven-on-seven scrimmages and a lineman challenge. The Elite 11 finals for 2015 quarterback prospects is also taking place throughout the week.
The Opening will be televised on ESPNU for three days. The SPARQ Rating national championship, which combines various athletic testing results, will air Tuesday at 8-10 p.m. EDT. Seven-on-seven pool play will air Wednesday at 8-10:30 p.m. EDT. The semifinals and championship of the seven-on-seven tournament and the lineman challenge finals will air Thursday at 8-11 p.m. EDT.
The four Notre Dame commits will be joined by a number of Irish recruiting targets among the 162 players invited to the camp. The prospects are divided into six teams for the various competitions. Here’s a rundown of the prospects most relevant to Notre Dame attending the camp.
