RB Ronald Jones picks USC over Notre Dame
Running back Ronald Jones, who had narrowed his choices to Notre Dame and USC, picked the Trojans on Friday. Jones, of McKinney, Texas, made his announcement at the Under Armour All-America Game in St. Petersburg, Fla.
"Without further ado, I'll be taking my talents to USC. Fight on," said Jones, who had a 58-yard first-quarter touchdown run.
Notre Dame has a commitment from prep Josh Adams, but would like to add another running back in the class. Tarean Folston and Greg Bryant are the only scholarship running backs returning next season.
Four ND commits — kicker Justin Yoon, quarterback Brandon Wimbush, linebacker Te'Von Coney and cornerback Shaun Crawford — participated in the game.
Yoon, who is expected to challenge for ND's starting kicker job next season, enjoyed an exceptional day. He hit three field goals, including a 47-yarder, and was successful on five extra-point attempts as Team Highlight beat Team Armour 46-6.
Wimbush, who started for Team Armour, completed three of six passes for 44 yards with an interception. He also ran once for minus-5 yards.
One-time Irish QB commit Blake Barnett, who flipped to Alabama, started for Team Highlight. He threw for 66 yards and a touchdown.
