Notre Dame commit recap: Tommy Kraemer sets pancake record

Eighteen players took the field as Notre Dame commits last week. With playoffs starting across the country, the number will slowly start to dwindle as seasons end. ND Insider recaps how each Irish pledge fared last week.

OL Tommy Kraemer | Cincinnati (Ohio) Elder 21, La Salle 7: Kraemer plowed through the La Salle defense with 23 pancake blocks, a school record. The victory pushed the Panthers into the postseason. Elder (7-3) will host Fairfield (8-2) in the first round of the OHSAA Division 1 playoffs.

OL Josh Lugg | Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny 38, North Hills 10: Lugg piled up 18 pancakes as the North Allegheny offense totaled 330 yards. The Tigers (8-1) will host a home playoff game on Friday. Lugg attended Saturday’s Notre Dame game in Philadelphia and plans to see the Irish in Pittsburgh this weekend.

QB Ian Book | El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge 21, Folsom 35: Book accounted for all three Oak Ridge touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough for a win. He completed 18 of his 30 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown. Book also rushed 25 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. The Trojans (8-2) have a bye week before learning their playoff matchup.

RB Tony Jones Jr. | Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 50, Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian 16: Jones hit the century mark for the third time this season in an IMG win. Jones rushed 10 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns for the Ascenders (8-0).

CB Donte Vaughn | Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven 41, Cordova 14: Vaughn returned an interception for a touchdown in the Whitehaven victory. The Tigers (9-1) open the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs against Antioch (0-10) on Friday.

DB Jalen Elliott | Chesterfield (Va.) L.C. Bird 55, Huguenot 0: Elliott and the Bird defense notched their sixth shutout of the season. On offense, Elliott completed 9 of his 12 passes for 134 yards and one touchdown. He added a 15-yard touchdown run for the Skyhawks (8-0).

CB Julian Love | La Grange (Ill.) Nazareth 38, Sycamore 6: Love scored on a 77-yard touchdown run in the Nazareth victory. The Roadrunners (8-2) will play Solorio Academy (6-4) in the second round of the IHSA Class 5A playoffs on Saturday.

S D.J. Morgan | Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco 31, Orange Lutheran 12:Morgan and the St. John Bosco defense allowed just one touchdown in the victory. The Braves (9-0) maintained their spot as the No. 2 team in the country, according to the MaxPreps computer rankings and writers’ poll.

LS John Shannon | Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola 31, West Aurora 0: Shannon totaled seven tackles at linebacker as the Loyola defensive recorded a shutout in the first round of the IHSA Class 8A playoffs. Loyola (10-0) will take on Stevenson (7-3) on Saturday.

WR Chase Claypool | Abbotsford (B.C.) Secondary 22, G.W. Graham 23: Claypool caught one touchdown pass and totaled 45 receiving yards in a loss for Abbotsford (6-2).

LB Jamir Jones | Rochester (N.Y.) Aquinas Institute 21, Hilton 14: Jones racked up seven tackles and one sack in the Aquinas win. He also caught five passes for 72 yards on offense. Aquinas (9-0) will play Rush Henrietta (6-3) Sunday in the first round of the Class 2A NYSPHSAA playoffs.

OL Parker Boudreaux | Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore Catholic 56, Eustis 0: Boudreaux recorded six pancake blocks as Bishop Moore (9-0) kept its undefeated season rolling.

DE Julian Okwara | Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell 9, Charlotte Catholic 42: Okwara made eight tackles and two tackles for a loss in a blowout loss for Ardrey Kell (6-4).

DE Khalid Kareem | Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison 0, Beverly Hills Groves 10:Kareem totaled four tackles and three tackles for a loss in the final game of his high school career. Harrison (7-3) ended its season with a first round loss in the MHSAA Division 2 playoffs.

TE Brock Wright | Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair 10, Cypress Ranch 26: Wright caught four passes for 76 yards in a Cy-Fair (5-4) loss.

OL Dillan Gibbons | St. Petersburg (Fla.) Northside Christian 32, Admiral Farragut 47: Gibbons suffered his first loss of the season in a high-scoring game. Gibbons helped protect quarterback Griffin Alstott as he threw for 236 yards, and also made a punishing tackle when Alstott threw an interception. Northside Christian (8-1) has a bye week before the playoffs.

OL Liam Eichenberg | Cleveland St. Ignatius 28, St. Edward 35: Eichenberg’s senior season came to a close with a loss against a nearby rival. The Wildcats (5-4) failed to make the playoffs for just the second time since 1988.

WR Kevin Stepherson | Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast 12, Columbia 31:Stepherson scored on a 12-yard touchdown run as the Buccaneers (2-7) lost again.
