Notre Dame commit recap: Julian Love returns kick for TD

Seasons have started to end, and the number of Notre Dame commits in action each week continues to dwindle. The regular seasons have ended in every state with an Irish pledge. Thirteen Notre Dame commits took the field last week. ND Insider recaps their performances. (Videos best viewed in desktop mode.)

CB Julian Love | La Grange (Ill.) Nazareth 43, Solorio Academy 3: After Solorio took a 3-0 lead, Love returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. Nazareth Academy took complete control of the game following Love’s score. He added six tackles on defense. The Roadrunners (9-2) will host Joliet Catholic (10-1) Saturday in the IHSA Class 5A quarterfinals.

DB Jalen Elliott | Chesterfield (Va.) L.C. Bird 61, James River 0: Elliott and the L.C. Bird defense finished a perfect regular season with another shutout. He completed a 33-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter before sitting the rest of the game. The Skyhawks (10-0) will host Matoaca (7-3) Friday in the first round of VHSL Group 5A playoffs.

LS John Shannon | Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola 49, Stevenson 0: Shannon, who plays linebacker for Loyola, recorded six tackles and interception in the victory. The Ramblers allowed just 151 total yards from Stevenson. Loyola (11-0) will play against Homewood-Flossmoor (10-1) Saturday in the IHSA Class 8A quarterfinals.

OL Tommy Kraemer | Cincinnati (Ohio) Elder 50, Fairfield 42: Kraemer paved the way for the Elder offense with 19 pancake blocks. Quarterback Peyton Ramsey, an Indiana commit, accounted for four touchdowns, threw for 246 yards and rushed for 152 yards behind Kraemer and the offensive line. The Panthers scored a go-ahead touchdown with 1:40 left in the game.  Elder (8-3) will face Hilliard Darby (9-2) Saturday in the OHSAA Division I Region 2 quarterfinals.

LB Jamir Jones | Rochester (N.Y.) Aquinas Institute 17, Henrietta 14: Jones and the Aquinas defense held onto the narrow lead in the fourth quarter for a sectional championship. He recorded eight tackles, two tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and one pass deflection. Jones also made three catches for 40 yards. Aquinas (10-0) will play Orchard Park (9-1) Sunday in the NYSPHSAA Class AA quarterfinals.

OL Parker Boudreaux | Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore Catholic 6, Lake Brantley 42: Boudreaux stacked 15 pancake blocks, but Bishop Moore Catholic was held to a season-low six points in the regular season finale. The Hornets (9-1) will match-up with Palm Bay (8-2) in the first round of the FHSAA Class 5A playoffs.

S D.J. Morgan | Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco 70, Servite 7: Morgan made just one tackle as the St. John Bosco defense dominated in the regular season finale. The Braves (10-0) will play against Corona (6-4) in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Pac 5 Division playoffs.

OL Josh Lugg | Wexford (Pa.) North Allegheny 56, Norwin 17: Lugg helped clear the way for 405 rushing yards with four pancake blocks in the North Allegheny victory. The Tigers (9-1) will take on Pittsburgh Central Catholic (9-1), which features Notre Dame cornerback target Damar Hamlin and linebacker target David Adams, Friday night in the WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinals.

DE Robert Beal | Norcross (Ga.) High 9, Collins Hill 13: Beal and the Norcross defense held Collins Hill to only 47 rushing yards on 23 carries. Beal tallied four tackles, three tackles for a loss and one sack. Norcross (7-3) will play against South Forsyth (9-1) Friday in the first round of the GHSA Class AAAAAA playoffs.

TE Brock Wright | Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair 21, Jersey Village 13: Wright caught a 16-yard pass in the Cy-Fair victory. The Bobcats (6-4) will take on Eisenhower (7-3) next week in the first round of the UIL Conference 6A Division 1 playoffs.

DE Julian Okwara | Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell 24, South Mecklenburg 51Okwara caught an eight-yard touchdown pass as Ardrey Kell jumped out to an early lead, but South Mecklenburg overpowered the Knights with 31 points in the second quarter. Ardrey Kell (6-5) will get a rematch with South Mecklenburg (9-2) this week in the first round of the NCHSAA Class 4A playoffs.

 CB Donte Vaughn | Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven 40, Antioch 7: Vaughn and the Whitehaven defense held Antioch to 140 yards of offense. Two of Vaughn’s teammates returned interceptions for touchdowns. The Tigers (10-1) will host Mount Juliet (6-5) Friday in the second round of the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs.

WR Kevin Stepherson | Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast 69, Jackson 0: Stepherson’s senior season came to a close with a victory for First Coast (2-7). He rushed for 70 yards on a reverse and took a screen pass 34 yards.

WR Chase Claypool | Abbotsford (B.C.) Secondary 33, Rick Hansen 0: Claypool sat out the game with an injury. Abbotsford will host Pitt Meadows on Friday in the Class AA first round of the Subway Bowl.
