ND Insider

Measurables: 6-3, 245

School: Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison

Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 17 SDE.

247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 9 SDE.

Notable numbers: Kareem tallied 17 sacks, 60 tackles, 40 tackles for a loss and six forced fumbles as a senior.

First scholarship offer: Bowling Green.

Best advice I received through the recruiting process: This is one of the only times you should be selfish. It’s your recruitment and it impacts your life.

One word to describe Brian Kelly: Committed.

The one thing I won’t miss about the recruiting process: All the time sitting in the car driving. The trips themselves were amazing, but the time getting there, not so much.

Moment I knew I wanted to be Irish: On my official visit just getting the feel of everything.

My secret off-the-field talent: I can cook.

Song on my iPod I’m embarrassed to tell people about: “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens.

Sports idol: Julius Peppers.

Preferred social media: Snapchat.

Favorite football accomplishment: Semper Fi All-American.

Dream job (other than the NFL): General manager of a professional sports franchise.

Defensive line coach Keith Gilmore on Kareem: "Khalid is more of a power rusher. He has the ability to play inside and outside. He’s a two-time dream team kid and led the state in sacks one year with 16 and one with 17. He’s got a great first step."

Defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder on Kareem's versatility to play inside or outside: "He’s a young player, so if that happened, I’d see that happening from outside-in. Physically, we just have to see where his body and his weight goes moving forward. He’s a very fundamental player for sure. He’s a great leverage player, and again, outside-in will kind of be his development and we’ve just got to see where the body goes."
