Best advice I received through the recruiting process: My brother always told me to stay calm and keep working. Focus on your high school career. If I’m not getting the schools that I want, don’t let that get to me and let me grades slip up or my play slip up on the field.
One word to describe Brian Kelly: Professional.
The one thing I won’t miss about the recruiting process: All the phone calls.
Moment I knew I wanted to be Irish: Seeing what they did with my brother, when they gave me the offer, it was hard to say no.
My secret off-the-field talent: Video games.
Song on my iPod I’m embarrassed to tell people about: “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber.
Sports idol: Michael Jordan.
Preferred social media: Twitter.
Favorite football accomplishment: Winning two state titles. All my brothers only won one, so I’m the only one in the house with two.
Dream job (other than the NFL): ESPN sportscaster.
Linebackers coach Mike Elston on Jones: "Jamir worked out with our staff. It was within the first 15 minutes we knew he could play Sam linebacker, because he has a guy that has athleticism. We knew that he could be a Mike linebacker because he’s big and physical and an intelligent football player. And he could also be a Will linebacker because the Will mirrors the Sam. We were very excited about that. Then we put his hand on the ground and he gave some third-down pass rush ability. Anytime you run across a guy like that that has that position versatility, we feel like they’re can’t-miss guys. We have a great relationship with the family so that was an easy offer for us. He can be linebacker on first and second down and then he can give us a pass rush on third down.”
