ND Insider caught up with USC cornerback commit Thomas Graham following his visit to Notre Dame this past weekend for junior day.

CB Thomas Graham, 5-11, 173; Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High.

Junior stats: 103 tackles, two tackles for a loss and one interception for a touchdown.

Rankings: Rivals – Four stars, No. 6 cornerback. 247Sports – Four stars, No. 7 cornerback.

Top offers: USC (committed since July 2015), LSU, Oklahoma, UCLA and Utah.

Recruiter: Offensive coordinator Mike Sanford.

Planned visits: USC and Arizona.

ND Insider: How did your visit go? Did anything stand out about Notre Dame?

Graham: “One thing that stood out was basically the tradition. That’s one thing I liked. I’m being part of something that has a lot of tradition.”

NDI: What kind of fit do you see for yourself on Notre Dame’s defense?

Graham: “They see me fitting into the defense well because they’re short corners. They want to have eight corners that can play at any time. He said they don’t have all eight right now. He said I’d be a perfect fit there. Then it would become up to me if I wanted to get a lot of playing time or a little.”

NDI: What is your impression of defensive backs coach Todd Lyght?

Graham: “He’s very energetic. He showed that he wants me there. He’s very straightforward about things. He’s not trying to hide anything. He’s real.”

NDI: Did he tell you about his background as a player?

Graham: “He didn’t have to tell me about that one.”

NDI: What do you feel like you have left to learn about Notre Dame to consider them a serious contender in your recruitment?

Graham: “I think I learned enough to consider them a serious contender.”

NDI: Will you come back for another visit?

Graham: “Yes. Try to get to a game. When it’s a little warmer. Not when it’s like zero degrees.”
