Moment I knew I wanted to be Irish: “It was the second day of my visit. (Defensive backs) coach (Todd) Lyght took me into the office and went over a little timeline with me. He was telling me this and that and how football is going to end one day. Just the way he explained everything — what a degree from Notre Dame will do for you. I was already interested highly, but he just put the cherry on top.”

One word to describe Brian Kelly: Classy.

The one thing I won’t miss about the recruiting process: “The stories. You never know if what a coach is telling you is a lie or it’s the truth.”

Best player I’ve played against: Hampton (Va.) Phoebus QB Terrell Toliver.

How many times have you watched Rudy? “Once. I watched it when Notre Dame began recruiting me.”

Latest Netflix binge: “Southside with You.”

Most embarrassing song on my playlist: “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin.

Dream job (other than the NFL): “If I was good at it, computer programmer. Because they can do everything.”

Expectations for my freshman season: “I expect to come in and make an impact both on and off the field. I want to be a leader. I want to show the coaches, my teammates and my peers in class that I’m a leader. I want them to respect me. I’m looking forward to that experience.”

Favorite football accomplishment: “My first time being All-State.”

Should football have an early signing period? If so, when? “Yes. I think they should make it earlier so you can focus on academics. I’d put it mid-season.”
