LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Ovie Oghoufo and Kalon Gervin made the most of a long day at Halas Hall.

The two Notre Dame football commits received invitations to The Opening Finals after competing in Sunday’s The Opening Regional in the Chicago area.

Oghoufo was named MVP of the linebacker group. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound junior at Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison has been committed to the Irish since July.

Gervin did not take home defensive back MVP honors, but he blanketed receivers in coverage most of the day inside the Chicago Bears practice facility. The 5-11, 179-pound cornerback from Detroit Cass Tech, who committed in February, clocked a 40-yard dash of 4.41 seconds.

The Opening Finals will be held in late June or early July at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. The invite-only camp will feature 166 of the top football recruits from across the country.
