Notre Dame is willing to find room for two running backs in the 2018 recruiting class.

One of the top options to join Irish running back commit Markese Stepp is visiting Notre Dame’s campus on Wednesday. Three-star recruit Christian Turner made the trip to South Bend a little more than a month after receiving a scholarship offer from the Irish. He posted multiple photos of himself at Notre Dame on social media.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back attends the same high school that produced Irish quarterback Montgomery VanGorder and former running back Darius Walker. In 12 games as a junior, Turner rushed 135 times for 1,115 yards and 18 touchdowns at Buford (Ga.) High.

Notre Dame’s top competition for Turner could come from other Midwest programs like Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin. The Georgia product also has offers from Miami, Tennessee, and North Carolina, among others.

Rivals ranks Turner as the No. 26 running back in the 2018 class. 247Sports slates him 29th.

Turner is the first 2018 running back target to visit the Irish this year. Notre Dame has previously hosted four-star running backs Jaelen Gill and T.J. Pledger and five-star back Zamir White. All three appear likely to sign elsewhere with Gill (Ohio State) and Pledger (Oklahoma) already verbally committed to different programs.

Notre Dame extended a new scholarship offer to three-star running back Jahmir Smith on Tuesday.
