Notre Dame commit recap: LB Jack Lamb tallies 23 tackles

With the playoffs starting up across the country, some Notre Dame commits may have only one game left in their high school football careers. ND Insider recaps the 18 Irish pledges who took the field last week.

• LB Jack Lamb | Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak 26, Vista Murrieta 14: Lamb was all over the field in the Great Oak victory. He tallied 23 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. The Wolfpack (5-5) will take on Valencia (9-1) in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs on Friday.

• RB Markese Stepp | Indianapolis Cathedral 42, Decatur Central 21: With his team trailing 21-14 in the second quarter, Stepp responded with the next three touchdowns in a Cathedral sectional win. Stepp finished with 29 rushes for 249 yards and four touchdowns. The Fighting Irish (6-5) will square off with Bloomington South (7-5) in an IHSAA Class 5A regional championship on Friday.

• QB Phil Jurkovec | Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland 49, Norwin 14: Jurkovec picked apart the Norwin defense with 235 passing yards and 114 rushing yards. He completed 13 of his 18 passes (72 percent) with four touchdowns. Jurkovec also scored on an 85-yard touchdown run. Pine-Richland (11-0) will take on North Allegheny (8-3) in a WPIAL Class 6A semifinal on Friday.

• RB Jahmir Smith | Sanford (N.C.) Lee County 24, Southern Lee 3: Smith continued to be a workhorse with 27 rushes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Lee County (11-0) will take on Ben L. Smith (5-6) in the first round of the NCHSAA Class 3AA playoffs on Friday.

• QB Cade McNamara | Reno (Nev.) Damonte Ranch 47, Galena 22: McNamara chucked the ball all over the field in the Damonte Ranch win. He completed 20 of his 42 passes (48 percent) for 344 yards and five touchdowns. McNamara also carried the ball nine times for 37 yards and lost a fumble. Damonte Ranch (10-0) will open the NIAA Class 4A playoffs on Thursday against McQueen (4-5).

• S Paul Moala | Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn 40, Warsaw 0: Moala scored a touchdown for Penn by jumping a loose ball following a scramble on a bad punt snap. In addition to the touchdown, Moala recorded four tackles and returned a kickoff 38 yards. The Kingsmen (10-1) will play Crown Point (7-4) on Friday in an IHSAA Class 6A regional championship.

• WR Kevin Austin | Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward Prep 29, Gulliver Prep 14: Austin scored on a 34-yard touchdown reception in a North Broward Prep victory. He finished with five catches for 76 yards and six carries for 35 yards. Austin also returned a kickoff 39 yards. The Eagles ended the regular season 7-3.

• OL Cole Mabry | Brentwood (Tenn.) High 36, McGavock 7: Mabry helped pave the way for a balanced offensive attack for Brentwood. Quarterback Carson Shacklett threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Carter McKechnie rushed for 142 yards and one touchdown. The Bruins (11-1) advanced to the second round of the TSSAA Division I Class 6A playoffs to play Cane Ridge (10-1) on Friday.

• DT Ja’mion Franklin | Ridgely (Md.) North Caroline 42, Colonel Richardson 14: Franklin and the North Caroline defense limited the opposing offense to only 44 rushing yards. Franklin totaled six tackles and three tackles for a loss. The Bulldogs (10-0) will open the MPSSAA Class 2A playoffs in a regional semifinal against Kent Island (8-2) on Friday.

• LB Ovie Oghoufo | Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison 33, Warren Woods-Tower 0: Oghoufo helped the Harrison defense complete a shutout victory with 13 tackles, five tackles for a loss and two sacks. He added a 31-yard reception on offense. Harrison (8-3) will play against Linden (9-2) on Friday in an MHSAA Division 3 regional final.

• OL John Dirksen | Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local 27, Fort Recovery 0: Dirksen and the Marion Local offensive line cleared the way for three rushing touchdowns. The Flyers (11-0) advanced to an OHSAA Division VI regional semifinal Friday against Spencerville (9-2).

• DT Jacob Lacey | Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren 38, Graves County 12: Lacey and the South Warren defense limited the Graves County offense to 94 rushing yards on 26 carries. Lacey was credited with five tackles, three tackles for a loss and one sack as well as two forced fumbles. South Warren (9-2) will play against Christian County (11-0) in the second round of the KHSAA Class 6A playoffs.

• ROV Shayne Simon, DT Jayson Ademilola and DE Justin Ademilola | Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep 28, Don Bosco Prep 14: Simon caught three passes for 26 yards and added a two-point converstion on a catch. St. Peter’s Prep (7-2) and Don Bosco Prep (2-7) will play in a rematch Saturday in the first round of the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 4 playoffs.

• TE George Takacs | Naples (Fla.) Gulf Coast 43, Golden Gate 13: Takacs only caught one pass for five yards, but he also helped block for 215 rushing yards from Gulf Coast (4-3). The Sharks have finished their shortened regular season and are looking to schedule a bowl game.

• WR Geordon Porter | Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Etiwanda 28, Damien 34: Porter caught a 20-yard touchdown pass in his first game back from a broken collarbone. Despite the loss, Etiwanda (3-7) will open the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs on Friday against Downey (8-2).

• WR Micah Jones | Gurnee (Ill.) Warren Township 13, Maine South 47: Jones was blanketed with double-team coverage and limited by the Maine South defense. His first catch didn’t come until the fourth quarter. Jones was only able to make two catches for 11 yards in his final game for Warren Township. The season came to a close for the Blue Devils (7-3) in the second round of the IHSA Class 8A playoffs.
