Notre Dame set to host three-star safety Kyle Hamilton
The start of spring practice for Notre Dame football gives the Irish more opportunities to host visiting recruits.
Notre Dame will take advantage of that Thursday by hosting three-star safety Kyle Hamilton. The Irish will hold their second practice of the spring Thursday morning.
Hamilton, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior at Atlanta’s Marist School, previously attended Notre Dame’s win over Wake Forest in November. He’s had a busy start to 2018 with offers and visits.
Offers from Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Stanford have all been added in the new year. Notre Dame’s offer came in February. Hamilton visited Georgia on Tuesday, Clemson on Saturday and Duke the previous weekend.
Hamilton’s offer list doesn’t match his reputation from recruiting services. 247Sports pegs him as the No. 77 safety in the 2019 class. Rivals classifies Hamilton as an athlete, given to recruits who could play multiple positions, but did not include him on its list of the top 70.
“He’s a good ball player,” said CBS Sports Network recruiting analyst Tom Lemming. “He’s a solid defensive back but not a knockout one. They must feel they have a good shot at him.”
Hamilton recorded 60 tackles, eight pass breakups and six interceptions in his junior season.
Notre Dame has made a concerted effort to improve its recruiting efforts in Georgia. The Irish signed three recruits from Georgia in the 2018 class and have already offered at least 22 players from the state in the 2019 class.
Top six for Carroll
Four-star offensive lineman Quinn Carroll has decided to narrow his focus to six schools in his recruitment. He tweeted the list, which included Notre Dame, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, on Wednesday.
The 6-6, 290-pound junior at Edina (Minn.) High has visited Notre Dame multiple times with his most recent visit coming in February.
Rivals ranks Carroll as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the 2019 class. 247Sports slates him No. 18 at the position.
