Belles’ season ends

The Saint Mary’s tennis team fell 5-3 to Calvin Thursday in an MIAA Tournament semifinal in East Lansing, Mich.

The Belles got doubles wins from their No. 3 pairing of Kelsey Kopf and Elizabeth Preister, by a score of 8-4m but dropped their other two doubles matches.

No. 5 singles Lilly Chamberlin and No. 6 singles Preister won their matches to trim Saint Mary’s deficit to 4-3, but Megan Davy fell 6-2, 6-3 to seal the match for the Knights.

The Belles conclude the season with a 12-8 record while finishing tied for second in the regular-season conference standings.

Maddie Minaudo (SMC) vs. Lark Foote (CALVIN) 6-4, 5-3, unfinished. 5. Lilly Chamberlin (SMC) beat Alexis Bonner, 6-1, 6-3. 6. Elizabeth Preister (SMC) beat Brittney Statema, 6-2, 6-1.
