Tennessee baseball's Drew Gilbert, Frank Anderson ejected vs. Notre Dame
Drew Gilbert and pitching coach Frank Anderson were ejected in the fifth inning of Tennessee baseball's game against Notre Dame.
Both will also miss Saturday's game against the Fighting Irish due to their ejections.
Gilbert was displeased with a 1-1 strike call from home-plate umpire Kellen Levy. He turned toward Levy and expressed his frustration, using choice words. Levy tossed him.
Vols coach Tony Vitello and Anderson ran out of the dugout when Gilbert was ejected. Anderson was ejected as well. It is Anderson's second ejection this season. He also was tossed against Alabama on April 16.
Jared Dickey entered in Gilbert's place and grounded out to third. UT trailed 8-2 when Gilbert and Anderson were ejected.
Gilbert was hitting .373 with 11 homers and 70 RBIs entering Friday. He has started 55 games in center field and has been the cleanup hitter for the past two seasons.
