Notre Dame football: Watt set for Senior Bowl
Notre Dame fifth-year senior football standout Chris Watt has accepted an invitation to play in the 2014 Reese's Senior Bowl.
This year’s game will be Jan. 25 (4 p.m. EST; NFL Network) in Mobile, Ala. Both the game and the practices leading up to it, are heavily attended by NFL scouts and personnel types and is the premier senior showcase for NFL Draft hopefuls.
Watt is a 6-foot-3, 321-pound offensive guard from Glen Ellyn, Ill, and a three-year starter for the Irish (8-4). He has been in and out of the lineup since suffering a tear in the posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee on Oct. 26 in a game at Air Force. An MCL injury to the same knee suffered in ND’s regular-season finale, Nov. 30 vs. Stanford, will keep Watt out of ND’s Pinstripe Bowl date with Rutgers, Dec. 28 in New York.
Irish head coach Brian Kelly said Sunday the injury will not require surgery.
