Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly again reached into his past to try to help brighten the future of the Irish football team.

Multiple sources have confirmed Matt LaFleur as ND’s new quarterbacks coach. A formal introduction is expected next week. LaFleur most recently was QBs coach for the NFL’s Washington Redskins but wasn’t retained by the new Jay Gruden coaching regime.

Kelly coached with LaFleur roughly a decade ago for two seasons when Kelly was the head coach at Central Michigan and LaFleur’s career was in its fledgling stage. Kelly also coached against him when the Mt. Pleasant, Mich., native was a standout quarterback at Saginaw Valley State competing against Kelly’s Grand Valley State teams.
