Pro football: Notre Dame players on the move

Former Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees’ initial run at an NFL job didn’t last the weekend. ND’s starter in all 13 games last season was one of four players waived Saturday by the Washington Redskins.

Rees was signed as a free agent after going undrafted in the NFL Draft, May 8-10.

Meanwhile, former San Francisco 49ers fifth-round draft choice Darius Fleming, was signed Friday by the New England Patriots.

Fleming, an outside linebacker, has yet to see game action in the NFL after suffering a knee injury during rookie minicamp in 2012 and in training camp last year. The 49ers cut him earlier this year.
