A familiar face will roam the Notre Dame Stadium visiting sidelines early in the 2017 football season.

Miami (Ohio) University announced Monday morning that the RedHawks will play at Notre Dame on Sept. 30, 2017. Miami is coached by Chuck Martin, Notre Dame's former offensive coordinator who left following last season to take over the RedHawks.

Martin served as Brian Kelly's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 2012-13 and was the school's defensive backs/recruiting coordinator the two seasons prior to that. The RedHawks last weekend captured their first win under Martin, and are now 1-5.

The Miami program has a strong ND flavor to it. Quarterback Andrew Hendrix, tight end Alex Welch and defensive back Lo Wood all transferred to Miami to play their fifth year at the school. Former Irish great Autry Denson is the school's running backs coach.

Chuck Martin speaks at a news conference, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, in Oxford, Ohio, where he was introduced as the new head football coach at Miami (SBT File Photo).
